Kanon - Cinema

In episode 6 of Kanon, Yuichi and Ayu goes to a movie together. The cinema they go to is in Sapporo, so I went to have a look.

This is Sapporo Cinema Frontier inside the Sapporo Station JR Tower.

They didn't seem to have any scary movies running, but they had a lot of posters for anime movies.

Including ones for The Anthem of the Heart.

And the first Kizumonogatari movie.

They also had Aria the Avvenire and Project Itoh - The Empire of Corpses running.

This elevator that's shown after they finish the movie is actually near another cinema, United Cinemas in the Sapporo Factory shopping mall. It used to be a Toys "R" Us store behind the elevator, which matches the anime.

Near Sapporo Station is also this place that was shown in the last episode. This is across the road from the bank building shown in Wagnaria!! I've marked a path near this location in the map below.

View towrds the west from the JR Tower Observation Deck. It's of the same area as the anime shot above, but from another angle. You can see the same Hokkaido University Botanical Gardens park area and the red building and the building with the glass front on the left.

Supposedly you can get a shot from the same angle as in the show from Keio Plaza Hotel Sapporo. I went to one of the restaurants there, but the one I went to didn't have windows facing the right direction, so this was my view.

I did get a nice lunch there though.

If you want to go to the restaurant with windows that faces the right direction then it would cost a lot to eat there and you'd need to reserve several days in advance.

On the day I visited Sapporo Cinema Frontier I also found this strawberry chocolate that was shown in the anime.
