Hyouka - Hie Shrine

Another location shown in Hyouka is Hie Shrine in Takayama, which is also known as Hida-Sannogu Hie Shrine.

These stairs up to the shine is shown in the first OP.

This red torii gate is shown in the second OP.

Some people also claim that this red torii gate is the one shown in Your Name, but there doesn't seem to be any information to support this, except for the fact that it's a well known shrine located close to Hida Furukawa.

The shrine is called Arekusu Shrine in the show.

The rope is less decorated in real life.

Chitanda and Hotaro offers their prayers.

Image from Episode 20 - 10m58s

There's no storehouse here in real life.

Image from Episode 20 - 10m57s

The building on the right here is a toilet that seems to have been built after the anime was made. There used to be an old storehouse here, but it didn't look like the one in the anime.

Reverse view.

Only a few ema here, and no anime ones.

Hyouka - Hotaro's House Location

The next place I visited was Takayama where I checked out more Hyouka locations including Hotaro's House.

Image from Episode 2 - 00m12s

Image from Episode 19 - 25m17s

The house doesn't actually exist here in real life. There's just a parking lot.

Image from Episode 2 - 00m05s

This shrine across the road from the house location exists though, and it's named Ipponsugi Hakusan.

The small tree in the foreground has grown a bit since the show was made.

This road close to the house is also shown in the anime.

The windows on 2F of the buildings in the background seems to be swapped.

Image from Episode 11 - 18m20s

The roof above the entrance of this building has started to sag a bit. I've marked a path from the house location to this place in the map below.
