Kanon - Park

While in Japan I went to check out the park seen in Kanon. This park is called Showa Memorial Park and Nishi-Tachikawa Station is right next to it. You can also walk there from Tachikawa Station like I did.

Image from Episode 2 - 16m20s

This park is really big, but the Kanon locations are all in the lower middle and right parts of this L shaped park.

Make sure you don't crash into any trees while you're there. ^_^

Image from Episode 16 - 16m19s

This is the fountain in the park. I've made the location map focus on this.

Image from Episode 18 - 19m33s

The small statue in the fountain matches almost perfectly in the anime.

Image from Episode 18 - 21m58s

If you arrived from Tachikawa Station like I did and continue on the path that goes past the fountain you'll get to this place. There's more vending machines in the anime, but otherwise it's the same.

Image from Episode 16 - 16m03s

This field is right next to the vending machine place.

Image from Episode 16 - 15m48s

To get to the middle lower part of the park you'll need to cross a bridge. This place is next to that bridge.

Image from Episode 18 - 16m51s

And on the other side of the bridge you'll spot this clock next to a big pond. If you arrived at Nishi-Tachikawa Station you'll get to all these locations in reverse order.

During my visit in this park I also found a shop that sold taiyaki. I just had to get one of course!

Kanon - School

Since I already was in the area, I visited the school seen in Kanon. Tamagawa-Jōsui Station is the closest train station.

Image from Episode 2 - 11m56s

This is the school building.

The name of the school. Since this is a real-life school, these were the only 2 pictures I could get without trespassing.

If you decide to visit this place yourself, do remember that it is a school still in use and you should NOT enter it.

Air - Shrine

I visited the shrine shown in Air. It's called Yaho Tenman-gū in real life and is located just a few hundred meters from Yaho Station, the nearest train station.

Image from Episode 1 - 17m56s

The shrine buildings are the only thing matching in this location.

Image from Episode 4 - 12m27s

This side entrance to the left is the same. Wasn't open when I visited though.

Image from Episode 4 - 21m00s

One of the Torii entrances to the shrine grounds. It doesn't really match, but I included this picture anyway.

Image from Episode 10 - 09m27s

A wider shot of the main shrine building. To the right you can see the head of a cow statue similar to the ones at the other Tenman-gū shrine I visited.

Image from Episode 10 - 09m38s

The saisen-bako is at the bottom of the stairs in real-life, and there's handrails instead of walls lining the stairs.

Clannad - Train Station

The train station shown in Clannad is based on Hamura Station. I visited this location on the same day as the other Clannad locations I visited since it was close by.

Image from Episode 18 - 06m29s

If you go here make sure you take the east exit. The station looks completely different if you use the west exit as I did at first. I went back through the station building and then got this shot of the east exit side though.

Image from Episode 18 - 06m31s

And here's a match shot. Had to sit down on the bus stop bench to get this shot.

Image from After Story Episode 1 - 22m17s

The train station clock tower is shown in the After Story ED.

Japanese Clannad volume 6 DVD cover

This place used for the cover of the sixth DVD volume of the anime in Japan is right outside the station. If you sit down at the bus stop in the same direction as Tomoya and Ryou you'll easily spot this real-life Family Mart.

Clannad - Park

In addition to the school hill, I visited a park that's seen in the Clannad anime in Mizuho. This one is called Sayamaike park and it's even closer to Hakonegasaki Station than the school hill is.

Image from Episode 8 - 18m19s

There's a path just in front of the bushes shown in the anime so I stood there to take this picture instead of sneaking behind them.

Image from Episode 8 - 18m21s

The only thing that doesn't match is the sign that may or may not have been put up after the anime was made.

Image from Episode 8 - 19m16s

There were a lot of people fishing in this park on the day I visited.

Image from Episode 8 - 19m29s

So instead of Tomoya and Nagisa you get people fishing in this match shot. ^_^

Image from Episode 12 - 19m00s

The park bench were Tomoya and the mysterious man had a talk.

Image from After Story Episode 6 - 11m37s

This park is also seen in After Story.

Japanese Clannad After Story volume 4 DVD cover

This little shop shown on the cover of the fourth DVD volume of After Story in Japan is right next to the park.

Image from Episode 11 - 08m43s

Here's a bonus image. A lot of Japanese towns have their own fancy manhole covers. This is the Mizuho town one and even this is replicated in the anime.
